Florida Health Choices and the Affordable Care Act

Florida has been working on a health insurance marketplace called Florida Health Choices. It does not comply with the requirements set in place for insurance exchanges by the Affordable Care Act. What does this mean for the Florida program? According to the Kaiser Family Foundation Health Reform Source, Florida started working on an initiative called Florida Health Choices in 2008. When completed, it will be a web portal that individuals, and small businesses, can use to find health insurance coverage in Florida. Florida started beta testing the web portal in September of 2012. Florida Health Choices has some similarities to … Continue reading

You Won’t Lose Your Health Insurance

Certain politicians are saying that the Affordable Care Act is going to cause you to lose your health insurance. What a frightening thought! Fortunately, it simply isn’t true. In this blog, I will explain why the Affordable Care Act is not going to make you lose your current health insurance coverage. The difference between having health insurance coverage and being uninsured is huge! Those who have health insurance can afford to get preventative care, can see a doctor when they get sick, and can expect their health insurance company to help them pay for at least part of a hospital … Continue reading

California Replicates Health Care Reform Laws

Sometime soon, we will hear what the Supreme Court decides in regards to the Affordable Care Act. Will it be repealed? Will it be upheld? As the nation holds it collective breath, wondering how this decision will affect their health insurance policies, California has been working on replicating the Affordable Care Act in its state laws. I moved from Illinois to California in 2005. For the most part, I’ve been really happy with how things have worked out. Have You Considered Shared-Care Insurance?

It is reasonable to expect that you, and your spouse, will need long-term care insurance. That type of insurance can be more expensive than what many couples can afford. I haven’t actually had a reason to use it, yet. Fortunately, I haven’t gotten into any serious accidents, and have been relatively healthy. The only problems I’ve been having are allergy related and I find … Continue reading
