Every state has a Medicaid program. It isn’t always easy to find out if you, or your family, are eligible for it. Some states make it extremely difficult to find that information. Washington Senate Kills Abortion Insurance Bill

A bill that would have required health insurance companies in Washington to cover abortion did not pass the Washington Senate. It did not get enough votes from Senators for the bill to be heard by the Senate. There is potential for the bill to be considered in a special session. Right now, there are fifteen different states that have created laws that require health insurance companies to exclude coverage for abortion in a standard health insurance plan. Washington May Require Insurers to Cover Abortion

Fifteen states have passed laws that prohibit insurers from covering abortions in a health insurance policy. The state of Washington may be the first to pass a law that requires insurers who cover maternity care to also cover abortion. There is an exception for those who have a conscience-based objection to it.
