Time To Date, Again

When I was first divorced I dated, quite a lot. I didn’t know how to not be married so I wanted to get right back out there and find someone to love. When you are a single mother it’s much more complicated than just finding someone to love. You have to find someone who not only loves you, but your children. Then you cross your fingers and hope your kid likes them as well. This did not work out so well for me and after a couple years I thought I should just focus on raising Hailey and worry about … Continue reading

Insurance Blog Week in Review – Week of March 12 – 17, 2012

The Insurance Blog will get anywhere between twelve and fourteen different blogs added to it each week. It can be hard to keep up with them all. The Insurance Blog Week in Review is a great way to “ketchup” on whatever you missed. This week has a lot about my own, personal, attempts to find affordable health insurance. ABS Insurance has Tips for St. Patrick’s Day ABS has a few tips that can help you avoid having to make a car insurance claim on St. Patrick’s Day. Their advice would be helpful for pretty much any holiday that includes a … Continue reading

Trying to Figure Out What is Covered – Again

Yesterday, I spent time filling out an online application for health insurance. I have good reason to believe that I am going to be denied. At this time, I am waiting on an official decision from the insurance company. Now seemed like a good time to find out what the policy covers, just in case I do get approved (and can afford it). Technically speaking, I have now applied for the exact same insurance policy twice. The first time was by phone. The insurance representative that I spoke with told me that my application was denied because my allergies counted … Continue reading

Trying Once Again to Get Health Insurance

My husband and I have been trying to find affordable health insurance. It is completely frustrating! There were several months when we gave up even trying to get it. Recently, we started again. The struggle continues! This all started when I lost my job in 2009. I had health insurance from this job that covered both myself and my husband. In the blink of an eye, that was gone. Our first attempt to find health insurance coverage was through COBRA. This was supposed to allow us to extend the health insurance coverage that I’d lost. Unfortunately, the cost of COBRA … Continue reading

Is the MT Field Being Outsourced Overseas? Part One

I did a medical transcription series a while ago, and I thought I had covered all of the questions I could think of, but I missed a couple which kept being asked over and over again, so I tackled those and now I wanted to tackle a question I realized I never answered: Is the Medical Transcription field being outsourced overseas? Yes. I apologize to anyone who was hoping to get a better answer than that, but unfortunately, that’s the only answer I can give, because that’s exactly what’s happening. The American MT world went through a bust a few … Continue reading

How Safe Is That Sandbox?

Dylan loves to go to the playground. It does not matter which playground, or where it is, the moment he hears the word “playground” he drops whatever he is doing and runs for the door. We have a few playgrounds around here, and I like to mix it up by taking him to different ones. One thing that I am trying to figure out, though, is how to keep him out of the sandboxes at the playground. I’m not completely against sandboxes, however recent events have left me a bit concerned. A few days ago, I brought Dylan to a … Continue reading

Who Will Get Up With The Baby?

In the past, I have always nursed my babies, so I have always been the one to get up with them. Now that I am bottle feeding, we are trying to figure out what works best for my husband and I so that we both can get some much needed sleep. With three little ones to take care of, sleep is hard to come by these days. What has been working for us is that my husband gets up at the first feeding, and then I get up at the second. This is mostly because I do better in the … Continue reading

Unexpectedly Approved for Health Insurance

I recently applied for health insurance. Today, I got a response about my application from the insurance company. Quite unexpectedly, I have been approved for the health insurance plan. This leaves me with many unanswered questions. What, exactly, does the premium cost? At this moment, I am very confused. I originally applied for this health insurance plan over the phone. The insurance representative told me that I could not be approved for this health plan because my allergies counted as a pre-existing condition. She actually went and spoke with an underwriter before she told me I could not be approved, … Continue reading

How to Save Money on Makeup

Just shopping at Target the other day, I couldn’t believe the price of makeup! I’m afraid that it has been a while since I bought some. Sadly, I usually only remember to wear makeup for special occasions. As a work at home mom, it usually seems like more trouble than it is worth. Of course, I’d like to take advantage of makeup to bring out my features and make me look a little nicer. So, I’ve had to do some research and some brainstorming on how to get the most for my money and then make that makeup last as … Continue reading

Gluten-Free Food Review: Rustic Crust Pizza Crust

It isn’t possible to know what a food actually tastes like until you try it yourself, or you ask for the opinion of someone who has already tried it. This means that trying gluten-free foods that are new to me is going to be an adventure. This is my review of Rustic Crust gluten-free pizza crust. My husband’s favorite food is pizza. He sometimes makes them at home, and uses whole wheat pizza dough from Trader Joe’s. Obviously, this isn’t going to be an option for me to eat anymore, now that I figured out that I have a gluten … Continue reading
