Obama Wants Seasonal Firefighters to Have Insurance

You might not realize it, but, the seasonal firefighters who were battling the fires in Colorado don’t have health insurance coverage. They can’t buy the federal insurance offered to full-time firefighters, either. President Obama has directed federal officials to let the seasonal firefighters buy insurance. Firefighters who work full-time, or year-round, are able to qualify for federal health insurance. I think it is fairly obvious why people need to have a good health insurance policy. Seasonal Firefighters Lack Health Insurance

The firefighters who are battling the fires in Colorado right now don’t have health insurance coverage. They are considered to be seasonal workers, which means that they don’t qualify for federal employer sponsored health insurance. Lack of health insurance coverage can bankrupt families. Firefighters are modern day superheroes. They rush in to smoke filled areas and homes, and battle large fires. They do this to protect the lives of people who often are complete strangers to them.
