It has been described as allowing drivers who have had continuous auto insurance coverage to get a price break. If this initiative passes, will it be good for consumers? Study Finds Undocumented Drivers Have Little Impact on Insurance

A study shows that allowing undocumented, (or illegal), immigrants to get driver’s licenses doesn’t have a significant impact on the percentage of uninsured drivers in New Mexico. Neither does requiring a person to have lawful residency identification in order to obtain a driver’s license. A study was done by J. Tim Query, an associate professor of finance and business law at New Mexico State University.
