I sure have been finding the Parental Liability Blogs very interesting to write. It seems that we are responsible for a wide range of things our children might do as we raise them. This series has sure made me rethink some of the things I expect from the system. Parenting is a real risk financially and some of the ways we are responsible are interesting.

Four More Parental Liable Issues

• Negligent Supervision is a legal theory where a minor child's parents are held liable for their child's negligent acts when parent knows or has a reason to know that it's necessary to control the child and the parent fails to take actions to do so.
• The Family Car Doctrine states that the registered owner of the family car is legally responsible for any damage caused by a family member when driving when the registered owner has given permission and consented to the family member's use of the car.
• Child Access Protection Laws In several states there are parental liability laws when children have access to firearms.
• Juvenile Delinquents Several states hold parents financially responsible to pay restitution and criminal fines when their child commits a crime.

• All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Insurance Most Homeowner policies will not cover if it's used off your private property. In many states ATV insurance is required for vehicles operated on state-owned land. ATV insurance is generally in the same category as Motorcycle insurance.

• Underwrite, Underwriting and Insurance Underwriter--Who Are These People? Underwriting is a process of reviewing each Insurance Application and verifying the facts and placing the customer into the correct insurance product. Underwriting, requires knowing all the rules of the insurance company they work with and determining if a customer is correctly placed and enough premium is being collected. Underwriters issue insurance policies.
