Ask Anna

When a person has a name like “Anna” and invites friends and Families.com members to send her questions to use in an Advice type of column then–the column has to be named–“Ask Anna.” Trust me I tried to think of something less obvious, but the other titles I could think of sounded like someone “trying too hard.” Anna’s Insurance Q’s and A’s Anna’s Insurance Advice Blogs Insurance Queen. Hit-and-Run Driver Crashed into Parked Car.

One of the most interesting insurance positions I held was in a Multi-Company Insurance Agency with a specialty in providing insurance coverage for used car dealerships. I worked in the personal lines where we made sure everyone–including the dealers employees were insured. But, my primary job was to manage all of the agencies claims. It seems like yesterday, but forever ago. Andrew and I were six weeks away from our wedding day and I took an extra shift at the café, hoping to earn a few more dollars to help make the day even more special for myself. Why Would Anyone Become An Insurance Agent?

As a retired insurance agent I don’t remember one time where I sold a policy and heard the clients say, “Oh, this purchase was so wonderful let’s go out to dinner and celebrate.” I did have a few high risk drivers who had to provide proof of auto insurance I was able to make happy by finding insurance they were eligible to purchase. The closest thing to “celebrating insurance customers” were those young drivers who had already wracked up a few speeding tickets.
