Standardized Insurance Forms are On the Way!

Starting next year, there will be new, easier to understand, insurance forms. These forms will be standardized, and insurance companies would be required to use them. This will make it much easier for consumers to compare health insurance plans, in order to find out which one is best for them. Health Insurance Will Soon Come With Labels

Part of the health care reform laws include the creation of “coverage fact labels” that will describe what each health insurance policy will cover. These labels are being worked on right now by a group of state insurance regulators, industry representatives, and consumer advocates. The labels are supposed to make it much easier for consumers to compare one health insurance policy against another. Humana Will No Longer Hire Smokers

As of July 1, 2011, Humana Inc. will not be hiring anyone who uses tobacco products. They have made this decision because they sell health insurance, and are a company that promotes good health. Smoking, or using tobacco products, doesn’t match with that philosophy. This will not affect all Humana offices, due to laws in specific states. Smokers, and users of other forms of tobacco, need not apply to Humana Inc. anymore. The health insurance company will no longer hire anyone who uses cigarettes, pipes, chewing tobacco or cigars.
