My Quest to Find Affordable Health Insurance is Finished

I recently got approved for a health insurance policy that I can afford. It has been a long, tiring, frustrating, quest to find coverage after I lost my job that came with employer sponsored health insurance. Here is a quick summary of my journey from uninsured to insured. This all started in 2009. I was working as a paraeducator in a special needs classroom. My husband and I were covered for medical, dental, and vision care. Like many other teachers in California, there was no indication that I was about to lose my job. Suddenly, in the course a single day, I went from being someone with a full time job with benefits, to someone who had no job, and no health insurance. Naturally, this was extremely stressful. … Continue reading

Health insurance for the newly unemployed

Many of us look for work at companies that offer benefits. This is how most of us are able to afford health insurance for our families.
