Getting Answers from Insurers is Difficult

My attempt to find out what my health insurance actually covers came to a stand still. The booklet mentioned something about “preventative care” being covered. However, it never described exactly what the insurer considered to be “preventative care”. A call to my insurer was enlightening. I almost feel sorry for the phone representative that ended up getting me when I called my health insurer for information today. I don’t think they get many callers who are as informed about health insurance as I am. There is an advantage to writing about insurance topics every day for over a year. The … Continue reading

I was unable to locate this information in the booklet they sent me, hence, the need to give this insurer a … Continue reading

My husband was going through the voice mail messages on our phone today. He told me that there was a message for me, from the insurance company that we just canceled our policy from. We had no idea what the purpose of this phone call was. The call came from … Continue reading

Why We Canceled Our Health Insurance

After fighting so hard to find affordable health insurance, we ended up canceling it. This may sound crazy, but I can explain. The short answer is that the insurance policy wasn’t anywhere near as “affordable” as it first appeared to be. When my husband and I first started trying to find health insurance, it was for specific reasons. We had concerns that if something serious happened to either one of us, that we would end up losing our home. The fear was that the medical bills that would come from having cancer, or from recovering from a serious injury, would … Continue reading
