Mercedes-Benz USA is about to unveil a special version of their luxury cars. This new model will have a small screen on the dashboard that will allow the driver to access a simplified version of Facebook. I cannot imagine that auto insurance companies are going to look favorably upon this idea. The new Mercedes will come with an in-vehicle telematics system. State Farm recently put a survey online asking people about their cell phone habits while driving. The results, though unscientifically found, are interesting. Almost 20% of the people who took the survey admitted to using their cell phones to access the Internet while they were driving. This would mean that one in five drivers are distracted while driving, because they are online. Drivers who are distracted, are more likely to get into accidents than are drivers who are paying attention to the road, and the other vehicles they share it with.
