Mercedes-Benz Brings Facebook to Your Dashboard

Mercedes-Benz USA is about to unveil a special version of their luxury cars. This new model will have a small screen on the dashboard that will allow the driver to access a simplified version of Facebook. I cannot imagine that auto insurance companies are going to look favorably upon this idea. The new Mercedes will come with an in-vehicle telematics system. It includes one of those “intelligent screens” that have started appearing in many new cars and trucks. At least some of those screens allow people who are inside a vehicle to use the screen to access the internet. There … Continue reading

Insurance For Black Friday

Are you ready for the shopping frenzy known as “Black Friday”? Don’t let the excitement make you confuse the store warranties with actual insurance coverage. Make sure you are calm before you drive, so you won’t get into an accident. Problems on Black Friday could result in insurance claims. It certainly feels as though Black Friday came early this year. Many retailers started revealing their Black Friday deals shortly after the trick-or-treaters returned home this Halloween. Since then, it seems like there have been extra, “early”, sales going on each and every weekend. Retailers are trying very hard to push … Continue reading

Over-Reliance on the Web?

Allow me to briefly grumble about internet service providers (in general) as they consistently disappoint in the country of America (in particular). The customer service I’ve received has been, surprisingly, wonderful. That said, for an entire week my internet was cut off for no good reason. I live in a duplex, you see, and I had our internet set up at the beginning of the month. A day or so later our next door neighbors moved out. A week or so later I saw my ISP’s truck in front of our house. “What are they doing,” I wondered, and suddenly … Continue reading

Drive Safely This Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend is one that people look forward to. Many people are going to be able to enjoy having an extra day off of work this week. There will be parties this weekend, and many will serve alcohol. Make sure you are driving safely this weekend, so you won’t end up needing to spend time trying to file an insurance claim on days when your insurance office is likely to be closed. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Memorial Day weekend is a dangerous time to be on the road. Data from 2009 shows that this particular … Continue reading

Do You Surf the Internet While Driving?

State Farm recently put a survey online asking people about their cell phone habits while driving. The results, though unscientifically found, are interesting. Almost 20% of the people who took the survey admitted to using their cell phones to access the Internet while they were driving. This would mean that one in five drivers are distracted while driving, because they are online. Drivers who are distracted, are more likely to get into accidents than are drivers who are paying attention to the road, and the other vehicles they share it with. This is true no matter what the distraction happens … Continue reading

Escape to Playa Los Cerritos

While the rest of the country heads north to view the spectacular fall colors, you could escape to the sun, sand and silence by visiting Playa Los Cerritos in Baja, Mexico. The breathtakingly beautiful stretch of sand is located less than an hour’s drive north of Cabo San Lucas. The area is accessible by flying into Cabo San Lucas or La Paz, and then renting a car and driving on the new four-lane Hwy 19 towards Todos Santos. The Cerritos exit is at kilometer marker 65. Along the way you will be treated to stunning view of the Pacific Ocean, … Continue reading
