Judge Rules Insurance Requirement Does Not Violate Religious Freedom

A federal judge has decided that the requirement for all American’s to purchase health insurance, (or pay a fine), does not violate religious freedom. The judge has dismissed the lawsuit, and says that the Supreme Court will need to settle the constitutional issues. Add this to the list of court cases that were filed in response to the controversial mandatory insurance requirement. This lawsuit was filed by the American Center For Law and Justice, which is a Christian group, founded by evangelist Pat Robertson. Another Judge Rules Mandatory Health Insurance Unconstitutional

Today, a federal judge in Florida has ruled that the mandatory requirement that all Americans must purchase health insurance is unconstitutional. It is expected that the federal government will file for a stay, and that these kinds of court cases will eventually be heard by the Supreme Court. The ruling by Judge Roger Vinson, in Pensacola, Florida, today matches the ruling by Judge Henry E. Hudson in a similar court case.
